As it stands, Cassiopeia can be played faily aggressively and is a pretty strong AP carry.

If you don't want to commit to buying one, just wait a couple weeks and try them out while they're free. Once you find one you'd like, unlock him!

Someone AP.... Someone Agressive... hmm... (Anyone that's played with me will probably see this coming).

Well then sir, you want Akali! I know she's not on your list, but let's make an exception for the best champ in LoL shall we?
Akali can counter almost every single mid they throw at you. Unless its something like a woo-kong, volibear, or garen, who probably shouldn't be going mid anyways. Odds are you'll get some fragile little glass cannon that thinks they're going to carry the team, which is easy akali food.

If you plan on playing her I've probably got some 300-400 games as akali and have tried pretty much every build thinkable so I can give you a decent build for different situations. My best score was 50/6 and even though I lost the game it was the funnest game in LoL i've played, though all akali games are fun. She's aggressive as you want her to be, she's AP (don't let those AD akali's convince you otherwise) and an excellent mid against almost every champion but tanks.

Ahir is a decent akali clone, but she just doesn't have the same "what just hit me?" effect.

Aggressive is more or less your playstyle. You can play any champion in an aggressive manor. For me, the best AP mid champion is Sion. That guy is just a matchup nightmare for any ap in mid that can push you off farm while he farms at will. The learning curve on sion is very easy as well, you really only use 2 skills as AP sion but those 2 can nuke someone down very quickly.

Off your list, I would say all 4 are good choices.

Akali is a very good champion that can nuke, really any champion can do well.

I enjoy using Xerath as his range is rather hilarious, but it really comes down to play style. I'd recommend trying them all out and pick whichever grooves the best with your play style.

I love playing AP mid so I shall break your choices down:

Cassieopeia:
Constant harass, insane DoT (damage over time) potential, and if you are good with aiming and landing her skills, then you will most-likely easily take anyone at mid. TSM's Reginald plays an amazing Cassieopeia, so if you want to see her potential watch some of his clips. Her ultimate either slows/stuns for a period of time, so during a team fight she is definitely beneficial.

Xerath:
As mentioned, with his insane range, you will constantly poke and harass, his passive imo isn't too much but the added armor helps. With the range you can play aggressively, and his stuns and poke in team fights are also helpful.

Brand:
My first AP mid I've learned to love and dominate. Again, if you can aim and plan your W (Pillar of Flame) accordingly to where you assume the enemy champion will move, you will shred their hp constantly. His added passive which works like ignite will ensure you will constantly poke and harass them. Has great farming potential, and his team fight presence is amazing. Ablaze the team, then ult and it will most likely shred their hp a lot.

Ahri:
Similar to Akali, has insane early-mid game burst and carries on if fed throughout the game. Her 3 dash ult for chase or escape is really versatile too .. seriously annoying lol.

IMO Cass if played right destroys any ap mid lol.

If your playing Cass, i recommend setting up smart cast for your skills if you haven't already, its insanely useful for champions like her.
