Hey guys,

My computer system sucks for running this game.... it's horrible. Especially in PvP. I'm was looking to upgrade my computer soon, but I was planning on waiting for either the i7 to drop in price, or the next generation 6 core to come out before i drop a load of cash.

With that being said, anyone running a dual core (AMD or Intel) please post your computer specs and how well it runs AoC, settings you use, etc.

Thanks!

Current computer specs:

AMD 3500FX 2.2 Ghz.
2 Gigs of ram
Nvidia 6600 GT

P.S. yah, i know it's bad... I built this computer 2 months after WoW came out :O

Far from a computer expert but it looks like your video card is a bit on the weak side too. I'd look into upgrading that as much as I would look into upgrading your CPU.

My plan was to buy a cheap barebones, or build one myself. I'm not planning on using my current motherboard, since its a socket 754, or my current graphics card.

To the best of my knowledge, I'm only a step or two down from the best available CPU for a socket 754 motherboard, and I highly doubt upgrading the video card would do the trick. If i was to upgrade my current CPU/GC, it would cost me around 150 US..... I could probably build a nice dual core for around 300-500 depending on if i go Intel or AMD.

If you do not know how to check your system specs:

XP users: start > run > type "Dxdiag" in the search box without the quotes

Vista/Win7: Pretty much the same deal, click the start orb and type "dxdiag" in the search box.

Look under "system" unless you know what ur doing, I wouldn't mess around with any of the settings in there.

Thank you in advance.

I run a self-built system with a Dual Core Duo 2 processor and an Intel E8400 Mobo. I had an 8800GT video card for a while, and it did fine, but I recently upgraded to a 9600. I have an actual 4 Gig of DDR2 RAM, but since I'm running Win XP 32, I only use 3 Gig of it. Even on my 8800GT I could run on Medium settings very smoothly (including full Shadows), and if it weren't for the cooling problems I have at the moment, I could likely run maxxed with the 9600.

Thank you for the replay, Ragein - Useful information.
*edit*

Had to cut that last post short, my boss came in... Anyways - an E8400 is on the high end for a dual core CPU... I could probably pick one up for 250-350 range.... A little more than I wanted to spend for just the cpu/mobo.

AMD users please post!

Yeah, that system definitely isn't up to par for any game beyond ~2006. Socket 754 came out in 2003, and was quickly overshadowed by Socket 939 CPU's released a year later, and rendered useless compared to AMD Athlon 64 X2 processors released in 2005. For about ~$350 (CPU, RAM, mobo, video card, power supply ONLY) you can get a rather decent computer on an AM2+/AM3 platform, one that would easily blow away your current setup.

@ Ragein

You actually downgraded by going from an 8800 GT to a 9600 GT. Just because it's a latter series, and a "higher" number, doesn't mean it is better. In fact, you lost well over 100 GFlops (336 GFLOPs for the 8800 GT vs 208 GFLOPs for the 9600 GT), and 12.8 GT/s. The only thing that the 9600 GT has over the 8800 GT is pixel fill rate, since both use 16 ROP's but the 9600 GT has a slightly (50 MHz) higher core clock. This in no way shape or form makes up for the missing TMU's and shader units which is what lets the 8800 GT easily surpass the 9600 GT.
