For the past couple of years I been a nomad. Hopping from game to game, nothing ever felt right. You call it, I played it. No MMO has been left untouched, yet I always yearn for something that is no longer attainable.

The first year of World of Warcraft, hands-down, holds my fondest gaming memories. Back when getting to 60 was a huge feat and owning an epic mount gave you god-like status. Servers were like families and PvP was never far off.

The countless nights defending Tarren Mill and the Crossroads from the Alliance brings a tear to my eye. No the system was not perfect, but it involved every player, from the lowbie in Wailing Caverns greens to the seasoned pro fresh out of Onyxia's lair.

Stranglethorn was every players personal hell, yet deep in the back of your head, you loved every minute of it. The comfort of knowing that help was close by, you gained infamy with every kill.

Before battlegrounds, resilience and the removal of elite mobs in Azeroth, WoW revolutionized the genre and gaming as whole. Though Blizzard has stated numerous times they are not opening up a Pre-BC server, we can always look back and appreciate what we had.

"A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you- stand, Men of the West! "

Burning Crusade definitely ruined the game, maybe even the genre.. It became a slippery slope of lowered standards for the industry.
I'm not sure if I can agree with you. WoW, at its core, is not a PvP game. It's based around PvE, which is where BC and WoTLK went moreso than vanilla WoW.

Personally, I play wow for pve because it is relaxing and yet I can use my brain at the same time. For pvp, I prefer playing games like bad company, because that is mainly structured around PvP combat.

But, each to his own.

I'm gonna agree with you. One of my 80s is a pvp character and doing pvp from 20 to 80 with my buddy were the best times in that game. :D

Im a massive PVE fan I love teaming up to battle the AI with friends. To me its what gaming is all about.

But I do agree pre BC WOW was a great experience. And everynow and then I jump on a private server to play pre BC.

Fondest moment in wow. Reckoning stacking and soloing 40man raidbosses on my dorf paladin
least fondest moment in wow. Being beaten to server first tribute to insanity on 25man heroic TOC by literally 3seconds the reason we didnt win? because our guild leader was so adamant that the horde didnt have a good enough guild to down it we went and did naxx25man immortal run. we got immortal which pretty much EVERYONE had but lost out on 1 time only server first mounts.
