This is awesome. If anyone of you have seen Grindhouse, watch the little mini-film before Planet Terror. I honestly can't wait for this. The stuff that this man produces is pure genius.

Edit: posted the original video included with Grindhouse.

Writer-director Robert Rodriguez has lined up one hell of an eclectic cast for his next film, Machete.

Variety has confirmed that Robert De Niro will be in the film, which stars Danny Trejo as the blade-wielding title character and Fast & Furious's Michelle Rodriguez. Plus, Sin City's Jessica Alba will re-team with Rodriguez here in an unspecified role.

Two cast members of the Grindhouse faux trailer that inspired Machete -- From Dusk Til Dawn's Cheech Marin and Planet Terror's Jeff Fahey -- will also be back for the feature film version. Marin's Nash Bridges co-star Don Johnson -- who once played opposite Fahey in an episode of Miami Vice (scary that I know that off the top of my head, isn't it?) -- has also been cast.

Wait, it gets better. Action star Steven Seagal has also been cast. (Machete vs. Casey Ryback?! We're there!) And proving that comebacks are sometimes just one role and many bad headlines away, the rumor that Lindsay Lohan would be in the film turns out to be true.

No mention was made of Jonah Hill, who was also recently offered a role in the film.

"A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you- stand, Men of the West! "
