So I been following the tutorial, just got CS4 yesterday, and every time I open up a render, it opens a new layer and I am not able to drag my render into my preset 350x150 background. How do I fix that?

"A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you- stand, Men of the West! "

Right. Every time you open up a file (including a render) PS will open it as a new project. So you'll have two projects. One being the signature, one the render:

Now from here. You take the move tool (at the top, a mouse cursor with a + sign next to it) and then drag the render across into the signature.

There are a couple of complications that might occur:
1) The render is set as a background. This is simple to remedy. If you look at the layer box, you will see the render layer named "Background". It will have a locked sign next to it. In this case all you have to do is unlock it by selecting the layer and then clicking the same lock icon shown at the top of the layer box.

2) The render is set on a white/black/colored background. Sometimes people cut out renders and place them on monochrome backgrounds rather than a transparent one. The render file shown above ^ has a transparent background. In this case you select the magic wand tool (Somewhere on the top of your toolbar. Try right clicking certain buttons to get more options.) and with the magic wand tool in hand click on the monochrome background. This will give you a selection of the whole background. Then tap the delete key, and you get rid of the background. Simply drag and drop after that.
