RIFT introduces three-faction PvP with Conquest

RIFT players have been speculating about what the much-hyped but little-revealed PvP announcement for the title would be, but now it's official: RIFT is bringing out three-faction warfare. In a post on the RIFT official site, Trion Worlds has introduced the Conquest PvP mode, which is a "no-holds-barred, interdimensional battle" in which players can choose from one of three factions (the power-hungry Dominion, the noble Oathsworn, and the knowledge-seeking Nightfall) and take part in a three-way battle to answer one poignant question: "What is the rule of the Ascended in the cosmos? To rule, to protect, or to ascend?"

Players eager to become a part of the Conquest won't have to wait long. This Thursday, May 15th, at at 7:00 EDT, Trion will be bringing Conquest to the public test server. All you have to do to get on the action yourself is head on over to the game's PTS "getting started" page and follow the instructions, and voila. So get out there and prepare for war, Ascended; it's time to conquer!

A little too late.. Why couldn't Trion introduce this when we were kicking and screaming for it during beta? It's a shame that the prospect of losing half their player-base to GW2 finally pushed them to do this...

Bethesda confirms Elder Scrolls MMO, three-faction PvP

Long rumored and much anticipated, The Elder Scrolls Online is finally being unveiled in the June issue of Game Informer. In this month's cover story we journey across the entire land of Tamriel, from Elsweyr to Skyrim and everywhere in between.

Developed by the team at Zenimax Online Studios, The Elder Scrolls Online merges the unmatched exploration of rich worlds that the franchise is known for with the scale and social aspects of a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Players will discover an entirely new chapter of Elder Scrolls history in this ambitious world, set a millennium before the events of Skyrim as the daedric prince Molag Bal tries to pull all of Tamriel into his demonic realm.

"It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years," said game director and MMO veteran Matt Firor, whose previous work includes Mythic's well-received Dark Age of Camelot. "The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise."

An in-depth look at everything from solo questing to public dungeons awaits in our enormous June cover story – as well as a peek at the player-driven PvP conflict that pits the three player factions against each other in open-world warfare over the province of Cyrodiil and the Emperor's throne itself.

The Elder Scrolls Online is scheduled to come out in 2013 for both PC and Macintosh.

Our Guild Wars 2 Plan: Expanded Edition

The fateful day is getting ever closer, boys and girls. Back when I made the League of Legends thread, I gave some insight on how our Guild Wars 2 charter will work and now I will elaborate a bit more on it. Were sticking with this game for good. Our site will revolve exclusively on GW2 and LoL, so the rules and guidelines will be strictly enforced. Many of you are in for a rude awaking if you think you'll be playing with Saga.

Q- How do we join the charter?
A- People can start PM'ing me if they're interested... but that does not mean you get in. I will be personally inviting the majority of our members. If you have been away for a long time and think you can just stroll in here without posting on the forums for three months- think again. If you have been swearing like a sailor on Vent, harassing other members, badmouthing Saga, etc... you're definitely not getting in.

Q- Do we have to pre-purchase the game?
A- No, but it would be helpful. The three extra days would give us the headstart over the zerg guilds that we would need to establish dominance. Much like in RIFT, if our initial group is organized, we'll claim the top spot right away.

Q- Will Guild Wars 2 be a casual charter?
A- Somewhat. Playing with many of you over the years, I have seen some awesome players... and some atrocious ones as well. If you're not good at PvP, you can get into the guild but don't expect to roll with our main pre-made teams. It's pretty much fact that GW2 will somehow be associated with MLB and other tournaments and Saga will be a part of that from the very beginning. We will have "B" teams and we will train players so don't fret guys.

Q- Will you recruit outside of the current roster?
A- Most likely... simply because we have people that drop off and don't post for months. We need more dedicated users and I will open up our rosters to get some loyal and experienced players into the guild.

Q- Who will lead the charter?
A- So far it's Frehas and myself. We'll probably end up being on the same pre-made team so I will find a few other officers to help us run the show as well. Like I said, some of our old leadership dropped off so our pool of candidates is somewhat limited.

Q- When will you be sending out the invited for the roster?
A- Over the next few months. As I said before, forum contribution and activity are extremely important. If you can't communicate with your guild mates on this medium, we won't bring you on board.

Q- What if I don't have a mic/can't install vent/can't control my language?
A- Don't let the door hit you on your way out. Seriously. I hear that Ruin is recruiting, see if they will take you.

Q- How many members will the initial roster have?
A- Tough to say. As of now, I don't want to limit it but if we have to go small to retain quality over quantity, so be it.

I understand that we live in tough times and not everyone is able to spare some extra cash.
